Quiet Stance costs money to write and is free to read. The gap is filled by commission. This page explains how, so you can read the course knowing what the publisher stands to gain and what it does not.

The arrangement, in one paragraph

Milvelt Group s.r.o., the publisher of this site, takes part in an affiliate programme for Star Stable Online. Certain links on this site carry a code identifying this site as the source of the visit. If you follow one of those links and create an account, the affiliate network that operates the link pays Milvelt Group s.r.o. a commission. According to that network, the programme pays on a sign-up, on a first play and on a sale.

What it costs you

Nothing. The price of anything you buy is the same whether you arrive through a link here, through a search engine, or by typing the address yourself. Commission comes out of the vendor's marketing budget, not your bill. You are free to ignore the links: no part of this course requires one, and the five steps work identically for any game in the category.

Where the links appear

There are six affiliate links on this site, all to the same destination: one on the homepage, and one in each of the five steps, placed where the step has just raised a question only the vendor can answer. There are none in the legal pages, none in the checklists and none in the footer.

Every one is marked. Directly under each link is a line in smaller type saying it is a paid affiliate link, that commission is earned if an account is created, and that your price is unchanged. A box under the opening sentences of the homepage says the same before the course begins, and this page is the long version.

The links are plain links. They go directly to the address the network gave us, which you can see in your browser's status bar before you click. There is no redirect of our own in the middle, no script that swaps the destination, and nothing that behaves differently depending on where you came from.

What commission does not decide

Commission does not decide what any step says. No sentence was written, softened or removed because of how it might affect earnings, and the course repeatedly tells readers things that work against them — that it can be completed without creating any account, that deciding against a game is a valid outcome, and how to close an account cleanly.

Commission does not decide which checklist items appear; the checklists are what a household would need for any online game. And commission does not buy a claim. Nothing here calls the named product best, safest or cheapest, because those are not statements anyone here is in a position to make.

What does decide the content

Three things. The order in which a household actually has to make decisions, which is why the course is five sequenced steps rather than a set of topics. What the responsible Australian bodies publish: classification, online safety, privacy, consumer rights, scams and account security each come from the Australian body responsible, and a general factual claim is either linked to one of those, written as general guidance, or left out. And what a reader new to the subject needs defined before the next sentence makes sense.

What we are not

Quiet Stance is not the official site of Star Stable Online, is not operated by its owner, and is not a partner, reseller or authorised source. Taking part in an affiliate programme is an advertising arrangement and nothing more. No game company has reviewed, approved or paid for any sentence here.

All brand names on Quiet Stance, Star Stable Online among them, are the property of their owners. Except for the paid affiliate links described on our funding page, none of those owners is affiliated with Quiet Stance, and none has endorsed or sponsored it.

What happens when you click

You leave quietstance.online. Nothing about the click is recorded here, as this site has no analytics and no cookies. On the other side, the network and the vendor may set cookies on their own domains to record the referral; that is their technology under their notices, as described in our Cookie Policy. We receive commission reports and use them only to check payments, as set out in the Privacy Policy.
